Toyota has once again increased the prices of one of its most consistent performers, the Fortuner SUV. The prices of the Toyota Fortuner have been raised by up to Rs 70,000, making it the most expensive SUV in its category. This marks the second price hike for the Toyota Fortuner in 2023, with the previous price revision occurring in July 2023, resulting in the SUV becoming costlier by Rs 40,000. Compared to last year’s prices, the Toyota Fortuner has become more expensive by up to Rs 1.1 lakh.

Regarding the most recent price increases, Toyota has raised the prices of 4×2 petrol-manual, 4×2 petrol-automatic, 4×2 diesel-manual, and 4×2 diesel-automatic variants by up to Rs 44,000. On the other hand, all the 4×4 variants, including 4×4 diesel-manual, 4×4 diesel-automatic, and 4×4 GR-S, have become pricier by Rs 70,000.

With these price hikes, the new prices of the Toyota Fortuner now range between Rs 33.43 lakh for the 4×2 petrol-manual and Rs 51.44 lakh for the GR-S, which comes standard with 4×4 and automatic transmission for its diesel powertrain. Since Ford discontinued the Endeavour in 2021 as part of its restructuring operations in India, Toyota has been steadily increasing the prices of the Fortuner.
Price crosses Rs 60 lakh

Taking into account the on-road prices of the top-spec Toyota Fortuner GR-S, they now surpass the Rs 60 lakh mark in some major cities, including Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, and Pune. With these new prices, the Toyota Fortuner has become the most expensive ladder-on-frame SUV in its category, which now comprises only two competitors, namely the MG Gloster and the Isuzu MU-X, both of which have significantly lower sales numbers compared to the Toyota Fortuner.
Currently, Toyota is offering the Fortuner with two powertrain options: a 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. While the petrol engine produces 166 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of maximum torque, the diesel engine is the more powerful of the two with claimed figures of 204 PS of maximum power and 500 Nm of maximum torque. Both of these engine options are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, while the diesel variants also offer a four-wheel drive system as an option.
