Thanks to /Film, we’ve got a great video to share with you today that features Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director, Christopher McQuarrie, breaking down one of the most exciting and thrilling scenes from the film. That train fight sequence near the end of the film is pretty damn awesome, and it’s pretty cool to watch the scene play out as the director offers some wonderfully insightful commentary.
McQuarrie says in the clip: “This is one of my favorite compositions in the film. This is where I really developed an addiction to extreme, punishing conditions.” The filmmaker went on to talk about the “miserable elements” of shooting the scene and turning them up to 11 works to take the drama to the next level of insanity.
He also talks about Tom Cruise, and how he actually did climb on top of a moving train to fight the film’s main villain. We would expect nothing less from Cruise. Enjoy the video!
