A small number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq models in the United States are being recalled because of an issue with the Body Control Module (BCM) that is used to regulate various electronic systems, including lighting, power windows, locks, and climate control.
In the case of the Lyriq, an update with incorrectly calibrated software may have been made, meaning the EV does not emit the pedestrian-warning sounds that are required by an EV while decelerating from 30 km/h (18.6 mph) to 25 km/h (15.5 mph). The recall notice issued through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notes that this could increase the risk of a crash with a pedestrian.

GM says that the BCM supplier may have inadvertently provided incorrect calibration values to the software calibration management system and that the software update was deployed in the field between August 23, 2023, and September 8, 2023.
A total of 62 examples of the Cadillac Lyriq are being recalled, all of which were manufactured between April 7, 2022, and April 20, 2023.
GM notified dealerships of the recall on October 12 and plans to start notifying customers from November 27. Resolving the issue will simply require dealers to reprogram the BCM.
This is not the first recall to impact the electric Cadillac Lyriq. In June, four examples of the SUV were recalled because they had connections on the battery pack that may have been out of position or incorrectly welded. The car manufacturer also recalled a number of Lyriqs back in September 2022 after it was discovered that the infotainment screen could go blank, meaning it would not display the backup camera required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
