While Pluto, which will be airing on Netflix this month, is based on Usamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, one does not need prior knowledge of the classic manga to enjoy its reinterpretation. Pluto's familiar story beats only serve as a jumping-off point to create an expanded world that pays homage to, but is not reliant on, the older manga. This should prevent some headaches for those who fear needing to binge a story decades old.
