Audi Refreshes the Q8 and SQ8 for 2024

Audi’s Q8 and SQ8 flagship SUVs receive a makeover 2024, with fresh design details and updated technology.

As with any update of this kind, the changes are mostly cosmetic, with an updated rendition of the Audi Singleframe grille, revised side trim along with redesigned front and rear fascias. Lighting has been improved with standard LED headlights, while Audi laser light is optional, which uses blue anodized aluminum housing to extend the range of the high beams. Rear lighting consists of digital OLEDs with four digital light signatures, while the vehicle’s animated light sequences, used when approaching or leaving the vehicle, have been upgraded.

Other wardrobe updates include three new paint colors, four new wheel designs and the model name now etched into the Q8’s B-Pillar.

There are some minor driveline changes as well, with the addition of standard adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance, including lane change warnings, distance warning, intersection assist, and traffic light information. Also, Audi’s Multimedia Interface can now integrate Spotify, Amazon Music and other third-party apps.

Drivelines remain unchanged. In the case of the Q8, that means 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, 48-volt hybrid system and 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard. As you’d imagine, the SQ8 is a bit more potent: 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque courtesy of its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and all-wheel drive. Audi says the Q8 runs 0-to-60 mph in 5.5 seconds, with the SQ8 accomplishing the same task in four seconds.

But unlike the Q8, the SQ8 is fitted with a torque-vectoring rear differential and active anti-roll bars. It also gets standard air springs, adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering. While that’s not true of the Q8, the adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering are optional.

But you’ll have to wait until the dead of winter to get one, as it’s due early in 2024. Prices range from the $73,700 Q8 Premium to the $103,600 SQ8 Prestige. Prices do not include options or a $1,195 destination charge.
