Hot off the heels of officially acquiring Activision Blizzard earlier this month for a colossal $69 billion, Microsoft is reorganizing some of its top leadership in its gaming division. This news comes from a new report at The Verge, which writes that Microsoft head of studios and corporate vice president Matt Booty has been promoted to president of game content and studios, and that Microsoft corporate vice president Sarah Bond has been promoted to Xbox president. She will oversee all Xbox platform responsibilities.
The Verge also reports that after 32 years, chief marketing officer Chris Capossela is stepping down from Microsoft.

In Booty’s new position, he will “lead an expanded organization inside Microsoft Gaming that now includes ZeniMax and Bethesda,” according to the publication. In an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer says, “ZeniMax will continue to operate as a limited integration entity led by Jamie Leder, President and CEO, reporting to Matt.”

Spencer’s memo speaks more to this “expanded organization” inside Microsoft Gaming, noting that an organization that enables Xbox Game Studios and ZeniMax’s teams to collaborate effectively will ultimately “empower those world-class studios to do their best work in growing our portfolio of games players love.” Spencer also writes that Bond will lead a team meant to “manage the platform of today, and build the platform of tomorrow” in an effort to bring together “Devices, Player & Creator Experiences, Platform Engineering, Strategy, Business Planning, Data & Analytics, and Business Development.”

With Capossela stepping down, Microsoft executive vice president and commercial chief marketing officer Takeshi Numoto now holds the chief marketing officer role at the company.
Elsewhere in the report, The Verge writes that Microsoft corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi will now work as Microsoft executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer. And finally, the publication reports that Microsoft is moving its consumer sales organization to Spencer’s Microsoft Gaming team, it will be led by Ami Silverman.
