One NBA writer is proposing that the Brooklyn Nets trade for Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine in a blockbuster deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Nets and Bulls:
The Brooklyn Nets trade Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, Cam Thomas and a 2027 first-round pick (top-eight protected, via PHI) to the Chicago Bulls for Zach LaVine
The Bulls got blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder on opening night and had a player-only meeting after the game. LaVine could be traded by Chicago if the team gets off to a slow start this season, according to NBA insider Sam Amico.

Rival teams have checked in with the Bulls about LaVine‘s availability, according to NBA insider Jamal Collier of ESPN. However, no team has been willing to meet Chicago’s asking price for LaVine, who signed a five-year, $215.2 million contract in July 2022.
Buckley believes the Nets should go all-in for LaVine, who averaged 24.8 points last season. Brooklyn needs to surround Mikal Bridges with another star to seriously compete in the East.
The Nets could start Ben Simmons, LaVine, Bridges, Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton if Brooklyn’s front office figured out a way to acquire LaVine from Chicago.
LaVine has appeared in 348 games with the Bulls. He’s averaging 24.5 points in The Windy City. However, the Bulls have won just one playoff game since acquiring LaVine from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2017 in the massive Jimmy Butler trade.

The Bulls engaged several teams on LaVine trade opportunities during the offseason and LaVine was “not happy” about it, a league source told NBA Analysis Network. The UCLA product’s future with Chicago is one the Nets should track.
