Nissan’s newest concept car just hit the headlines. Coined the “Hyper Force,” the all-electric sports car packs a punch with 1,341 horsepower (1,000 kW). Certain design cues seem to resemble the brand’s Nissan GT-R halo car, though the company is not yet admitting whether the Hyper Force will inspire the next-gen Nissan GT-R.
What Nissan did reveal is a futuristic EV sports car that incorporates the brand’s e-4ORCE all-wheel control technology and a solid-state battery. The car is equipped with autonomous driving technology, which uses an “array” of sensors for “a high level of safety both on public roads and on the circuit.”. The exterior is adorned with active aero components, including a “newly developed plasma actuator” to minimize inner-wheel lift during cornering. Nissan boasts the car’s “optimal weight balance,” made possible by utilizing lightweight carbon construction, including carbon fiber wheels.
Nissan notably aims to appeal to motorsports enthusiasts and gamers with this concept. The entire cabin gives virtual racing vibes. The adaptive infotainment display was designed in partnership with Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital. It features two modes: GT for Grand Touring and R for racing. The cabin lights up with red ambient light and panels on the dash extend toward the driver to provide vital racing data in R mode, while most of the panels fade away in GT mode for a simplified display and the cabin lights turn from red to blue.
Bored with nowhere to go? No problem: When the car is parked, a special helmet can be used to compete in virtual racing using the car’s steering wheel and pedals. To make the virtual experience more realistic, Nissan combined skeleton visors with augmented reality to project digital ghosts on circuits for drivers to race against.
There are a number of hints that lead enthusiasts to believe that the Nissan Hyper Force concept car could indeed influence the next super sports car, potentially leading to the next-gen Nissan GT-R. The rounded quad taillights resemble those of the iconic Godzilla. Even the pixelated badge could be a clue.
“Incorporated throughout the design are elements, such as on the front and rear lamps, that pay homage to Nissan’s high-performance cars,” Nissan cited in its carefully written press release.
