A lot of people believe that the solution to alternative-fueled vehicles for a greener future are hybrids, not electric vehicles. Now, in terms of the hybrid vehicles on sale in India, which aren’t numerous, it was recently revealed that one model has dwarfed the sales of all others. We are talking about the Toyota Innova Hycross. According to the recently published sales data for Q3 of 2023, it has been found that the Innova Hycross had the largest sales volume.
Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid MPV Q3 Sales
According to the Q3 sales of 2023, Toyota Kirloskar Motor India managed to dispatch a total of 10,374 units of the Innova Hycross hybrid MPV. This tremendous sales volume allowed the automaker to capture a total strong hybrid market share of 47 percent. On the other hand, based on the same model, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto managed to post a mere 1,735 units sales figure in the same quarter. The Invicto hybrid MPV managed to grab a market share of just 8 percent.
Toyota has the Biggest Market Share in HEV Segment
Apart from the Innova Hycross, Toyota also has two other vehicles in the strong hybrid EV segment. The second spot on the list is taken by the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder mid-size SUV. The total sales volume for the Hyryder for Q3 was 5,284 units, and it has a total market share in the segment of 24 percent. Apart from this, the Toyota Camry took the fifth spot in the segment with 631 units sold in Q3. The Camry hybrid sedan managed to grab a market share of 3 percent.

Toyota Innova Hycross
The best-selling hybrid vehicle in India, the Toyota Innova Hycross, is the newest hybrid MPV in the Toyota lineup. This MPV currently sits above the Innova Crysta diesel in the Toyota MPV lineup. Presently, the model starts with a price tag of Rs 18.82 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 30.26 lakh for the hybrid model. The company with Hycross hybrid is targeting a more premium segment of MPV buyers in the country. The model is currently offered by Toyota India in G, GX, VX, and ZX variants. It also offers choices between 7 and 8 seat layouts.
As for the powertrain side of things, the Innova Hycross MPV comes equipped with two powertrain options. The first is a 2.0-liter TGNA in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine comes without any hybrid assistance and produces a maximum of 173 bhp and 209 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other powertrain option is the same 2.0-liter TGNA in-line four-cylinder petrol engine, but it gets hybrid assistance. This combination produces a maximum power of 183 bhp and 188 Nm of torque. Both of these engines only come with an automatic transmission, and there is no manual transmission on offer.
