The tuning minds at Ringbrothers have taken the wraps off the first of three projects they are bringing to this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. It refers to this wild 1969 Dodge Charger as ‘Tusk’ and has fitted it with the craziest crate engine that Mopar has ever built; the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellephant V8.
Before the team at Ringbrothers could slot in this potent new powerplant, they worked extensively on the underpinnings of the car and were forced to rebuild the firewall. The Charger is now also based around a custom chassis from Roadster Shop with a revised suspension setup with Fox RS SV coilovers, independent rear suspension, a 58.75-inch track width, and a 1.25-inch spined front sway bar. What’s more, the front wheels were moved forward two inches.

Only after these upgrades were made was it possible to drop in the V8, coupled to a Bowler Tremec T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission with a QA1 REV Series carbon fiber driveshaft and a Strange Engineering Ford 9-inch rear end. Mopar built just 100 examples of the Hellephant, each churning out 1,000 hp and 950 lb-ft (1,288 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels. A lot of power means a lot of braking force is also required so Ringbrothers have installed a set of Baer Extreme 6S six-piston calipers.
Extensive work has also been done on the exterior of the classic Charger. For example, the front end sports a new one-piece carbon fiber surround with a single piece of billet machined chrome trim. Ringbrothers also redesigned the front valance and chin spoiler while also altering the shape of both the front and rear bumpers. The rear quarter end caps have also been extended, there are new door skins, and the rocker panels have been lowered. Adorning the exterior is a shade known as ‘Black to the Future’ that has been contrasted by a number of gold elements, including the wheels from HRE and the special graphics.
The interior is also a work of art. It has been completely reupholstered and has new gauges, a custom steering wheel, a Vintage Air HVAC system, and a JL Audio system.
