After launching heavily updated versions of its popular SUVs – Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, Tata Motors has shifted its focus entirely to developing the new Curvv midsize SUV-coupe. The Tata Curvv, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 in a near-production form, marks the brand’s first SUV coupe. Recently, it was spotted during a trial run on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, offering a clear idea of its stance and silhouette.

The Tata Curvv spotted during the trial run was heavily camouflaged, but it provides a hint of its anticipated design upon launch. The production model of the Tata Curvv will retain the same sloping rear roofline showcased in the concept form, giving it the distinctive identity of an SUV coupe – a concept that has gained popularity in the luxury segment with offerings like the BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and Volvo C40 Recharge.

In addition to the sloping roofline, the Tata Curvv’s front end and side profile appear to be inspired by the new Tata Nexon. It’s worth noting that the recently launched Tata Nexon itself incorporated design elements from the Curvv concept, including vertical triangular housings for the LED headlamps, daytime running LED bars at the front and rear, and Y-themed LED inserts in the tail lamps. It’s likely that the Curvv will also feature these design highlights when it’s officially launched.
The production model of the Tata Curvv, as observed during the trial runs, may be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, providing it with an elevated stance. Both the Harrier and Safari have already set benchmarks by offering 19-inch alloy wheels in the Dark Editions of their updated versions. Currently, the Nexon features 16-inch alloy wheels on its higher-spec variants, and it’s anticipated that the Curvv will come with 17-inch wheels in its higher trims. The video footage doesn’t reveal any interior details of the Tata Curvv.
Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Curvv will initially be introduced as an all-electric offering, followed by both petrol and diesel versions. The internal combustion engine options – a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine – are expected to be shared with the Nexon, including the 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Tata Curvv is set to compete with similarly-sized midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and Citroen C3 Aircross.

Tata Motors to launch new EVs
Tata Motors recently introduced the new updated Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier and Safari. Now, apart from the Curvv, the brand will bring a slew of other electric cars to the Indian market. Tata will launch the new Punch EV in India and after that the brand will bring the electrified version of the Harrier and the Altroz too.
