Many feel the Chicago Bulls are about to have a fire sale amidst the struggles they have had since midway through the 2021-22 NBA season. The one stud player people are most talking about who the team could trade is Zach LaVine, its two-time All-Star wing.
LaVine may be a flawed player, but he is a very talented and skilled wing scorer who can hit from 3-point range and jump out of the gym like a pogo stick. At age 28, he should have several strong years left, and he is under contract for three additional seasons.
The Seattle area native has reportedly made a list of his preferred destinations, and one of them is the Miami Heat. After the Heat lost out on Damian Lillard, who also had them as his preferred destination, perhaps they will make a serious run at LaVine.
During the “Ball Don’t Lie” podcast, Jake Fischer brought up the prospect of Tyler Herro going to the Bulls for LaVine as possibly the best return they could get.

“Kyle Lowry’s salary, Tyler Herro and picks for Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso would, to me, be a nice get for Miami,” said Fischer. “I don’t know how much better the Bulls will be receiving than someone who, in theory, has untapped upside and is young in Tyler Herro.”
Co-host Dan Devine figured that perhaps the Bulls would like the idea of getting a player in Herro who is younger and may even have more upside than LaVine.
While LaVine is clearly a quality player, he has had some knee problems over the last couple of seasons. In particular, he underwent arthroscopic left knee surgery in the spring of 2022. There are also concerns about how well he would fit in on a team such as the Heat that plays slowdown basketball and is as disciplined and orderly as it gets.
While Miami is currently 8-5 and recently went on a seven-game winning streak, it ranks just 25th in the NBA in points per game.

Interestingly, the team faced the Bulls on Saturday, losing 102-97. LaVine scored just 13 points in 35 minutes, while Herro didn’t play due to a sprained ankle he suffered nearly two weeks ago. The Heat guard is averaging 22.9 points a game while shooting 41.0 percent from downtown so far this season.
