I’m a huge fan of a good patina on a car, after all it takes decades for the sun and weather to create it. But sometimes you find a car that is still all one color, if a car has been hidden in a garage or barn for years. It probably doesn’t have the kind of patina that I’m talking about, but it probably has faded paint that looks like a clearcoat would save it. But remember, cars and trucks built prior to the mid 1980’s didn’t have basecoat and clearcoat paint. These cars and trucks had single stage paint. This is important, because it means that you can polish or buff that single stage paint to bring back the shine if the paint is in good enough condition.
