Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday faces the Milwaukee Bucks today for the first time since getting traded for Damian Lillard.
Holiday, who helped the Bucks win the 2021 championship over the Phoenix Suns, talked about the Lillard trade.
The Bucks traded Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Lillard. Portland then sent Holiday to Boston.

One of the best defenders in the NBA, Holiday is averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.0 blocks in his first season with the Celtics while shooting 43.5% from the field, 34.9% from beyond the arc and 77.3% from the free-throw line.
The Celtics have the best record in the NBA and Holiday’s new teammates love playing with him. Jayson Tatum organized a meeting with Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis before the season started and Holiday blew everyone away.
“I came out of that meeting, and my respect for him grew tremendously,” Porzingis told Tim Bontemps of ESPN. “And I told him right away. His demeanor in that meeting … he said it, and he meant it, and we knew that he meant it. And being an NBA champion and just having all that experience and coming into a new team, one of the biggest rivals, and just being like that … that also just set the standard for everybody else in that meeting.”
Holiday said the meeting helped him feel comfortable as the newest member of a team built to compete for a championship.

“It means a lot,” Holiday told ESPN. “Even just knowing that we had it early, we had it before the season started. We didn’t have to figure this out later on, or let it linger and kind of keep it under the rug. It was good to have it at the time we had it.”
