India is a country where streets are filled with idiots. No matter how safely a person is driving or riding, they still can get into an accident because of stupid people on the road. Most recently, another video of one such idiot on a motorcycle getting into an accident with a Tata Punch micro-SUV has been shared online. The video shows how this motorcycle rider crossed the road all the way from left to right and then got into a crash with the Punch.
Tata Punch and Motorcycle Crash
The video of this accident has been shared on YouTube by Nikhil Rana on their channel. Before showing the video, the creator provides the background for this accident. He states that the video was submitted to him by one of his viewers. The person who was involved in this crash stated that this video was from the dashcam of his Tata Punch. The owner added that this footage was captured while he was driving on Sonipat, Haryana’s state highway.
Following this introduction, the main dashcam footage starts. From this video, we can note that the Tata Punch was being driven at a normal speed. The owner specified in the email that he was driving at 45 kmph, and the speed limit for the Sonipat state highway was around 60 kmph. Now, what happens in the video is that two people riding on a Hero CD Deluxe motorcycle come from the extreme left lane of the road to the extreme right to cross at an intersection. Soon after noticing them, the Punch driver applies the brake and even stops in time; however, the bike still gets crashed, and the bike rider and his passenger fall on the road.
Who was at Fault?
Now, from the video, the main question that arises here is who actually was at fault for this accident? According to the video footage, we can note that the bike rider was at complete fault here in this situation. The first reason is that he was trying to go from the left all the way to the right lane of the road to cross it. Now, if he knew he had to cross the road, he should have kept his bike on the right lane itself.
Another thing which he did wrong was that he was not looking at the road. This lack of alertness and attentiveness can also be attributed as the reason for this accident. The Punch driver, on the other hand, could not have done anything to avoid this accident. He was already driving under the speed limit. He also applied the brakes as soon as possible. However, with such little time and distance in hand, the car could not avoid the accident.
Importance of Dashcam
From this accident, another one of the most important things we can take away is the importance of a dashcam. Accidents like these are extremely frequent in India. A lot of people get into accidents because of no fault of their own, so having a dashcam in such situations can prove to be one of the best ways to keep yourself protected from allegations of causing an accident. In this accident, the Punch driver was saved from being accused as he already had a dashcam and the footage to prove his innocence. So because of such situations, it is recommended to everyone that they install a dashcam on their cars.
