Larger dimensions than the global model
While the Corolla Cross is currently available globally in a standard five-seater configuration with a 2640mm wheelbase, the Indian version will boast an increased wheelbase by approximately 150mm. This adjustment is to accommodate a third row of seats, giving it a more expansive appearance compared to the global-spec Corolla Cross.
Built on the Toyota TNGA-C platform
The vehicle will be based on the Toyota TNGA-C platform, specifically designed for subcompact and compact cars, SUVs, and MPVs. This platform supports both front and all-wheel-drive layouts with transversely-mounted powertrains, capable of accommodating wheelbases ranging from 2640mm to 2850mm. The TNGA-C platform serves as the foundation for the five-seater Corolla Cross and several other Toyota models, including the Corolla, GR Corolla, C-HR, Innova Hycross, Prius, and Lexus UX compact luxury SUV.

Full-hybrid powertrain options
Toyota offers various powertrain choices for the Corolla Cross globally, including 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engines, alongside 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter petrol-hybrid powertrains. The India-spec version is anticipated to introduce the 2.0-liter petrol-hybrid powertrain options, potentially tuned differently for the seven-seater Corolla Cross, aligning with the demand for hybrid variants witnessed in models like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross.
Made in the new Toyota plant
Toyota has confirmed the initiation of a new manufacturing facility in India, set to commence operations by the first quarter of 2026. This facility is projected to possess an annual production capacity of 1 lakh units. The upcoming seven-seater Toyota Corolla Cross will roll off the assembly lines at this new plant, aiming for readiness by 2026, targeting an annual production of around 60,000 units.
Will compete with XUV700
Positioned between the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross, the seven-seater Corolla Cross is poised to compete directly with similarly positioned petrol SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar in the Indian market.
