Dhoni is back in the news for his recent addition to his garage – a beautifully restored Yamaha RD 350.

MS Dhoni’s affinity for Yamaha RD 350 motorcycles is widely known, as the cricketer already possesses several RDs in his collection. His first-ever motorcycle from his youth was a red-coloured Yamaha RD 350. Now, Dhoni has acquired another Yamaha RD 350 for his collection, a custom green-coloured motorcycle restored by “Blue Smoke Customs,” based in Chandigarh.
“Blue Smoke Customs” shared several pictures and videos of the custom green Yamaha RD 350, recently acquired by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on its Instagram account. The motorcycle appears immaculate, showcasing the excellent restoration work performed on it. The restored Yamaha RD 350 bought by Dhoni boasts a custom British green paint job covering the fuel tank, side body panels, headlamp cowl, and the upper portion of the front telescopic forks.
Adorning the fuel tank of this green Yamaha RD 350 is the “Rajdoot” logo, while the side body panels feature the “350 Torque Induction” emblem. Mirroring the original Yamaha Rajdoot RD 350 from yesteryears, this restored motorcycle features chrome-finished front and rear fenders, round amber turn indicator housings, twin exhaust pipes, and a tubular pillion grab rail. The engine showcases a blacked-out theme, as do the mirrors.

Notably, the fuel tank of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Yamaha RD 350 also bears the number “7” painted on its top, signifying the iconic jersey number of the former Indian cricket team captain. In one of the Instagram videos shared by Blue Smoke Customs, it is evident that the motorcycle has been packaged and delivered to MS Dhoni, confirming its delivery to his hometown in Ranchi.
Dhoni owns multiple RD350s
The Yamaha RD350 holds a revered status in India’s motorcycle history. Despite its brief stint in the Indian market without achieving substantial sales success, the RD 350 has achieved an iconic status over the years for its spirited performance, capable two-stroke, air-cooled, parallel-twin, 350cc engine, and its ability to achieve high speeds on straight stretches.
Another one from Blue Smoke Customs, a well-known Chandigarh-based restorer of vintage two-stroke motorcycles, has restored and customized a Yamaha RD 350 LC for Dhoni’s collection. The motorcycle features a black and yellow custom livery, reminiscent of the standard color scheme offered for the bike. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the Yamaha RD 350 LC also received several performance upgrades, including a Lectron carburettor, a VForce4 reed valve system by Moto Tassinari, a Uni air filter, a Zeeltronic Programmable CDI, an NGK spark plug, JL twin exhausts, a Metmachex aluminium swingarm, and an LMC silicone radiator coolant hose. These enhancements aim to improve the motorcycle’s performance and handling on the road.
Although Yamaha never officially launched the RD 350 LC in India, many motorcycle enthusiasts imported the model privately. It was sold worldwide from 1980 to 1983 and features a liquid-cooled, two-stroke, parallel-twin, 347cc engine that delivers a maximum power of 49 bhp. The liquid-cooled engine was added to meet stricter emission regulations compared to the air-cooled engine found in the regular RD 350.
