When Dan dragged this nasty 1957 Chevy home there was no doubt that it was rough, and we mean ROUGH. So much rust, so much nastiness, and so much patching required. He did a lot of work using good patch panels from donor vehicles, but the floors in this thing were so bad that the only smart way to repair them was to do a complete one piece floor pan. This is a harder way to go in some ways, because the entire car needs to be lifted for installation, but it saves a huge amount of time in welding and is arguably the strongest repair possible. Oh, and it ain’t cheap. LOL
You can buy low buck patch panels, or make them yourself, but a giant one piece floor pan isn’t a cheap part. It is still worth it though, especially in a project like this one.

Finally time to spend a few bucks! We knew this car was crusty when we dragged it home.
Up until this point all the parts and patches came with the purchase. The biggest expense of this whole build is the 1 piece floor pan. There’s lots of ways to fix a rusted floor. License plates, scrap steel, formed patches or a 1 piece floor. I opted for the 1 piece unit on this build.
I believe the car is worth it, plus it saves A LOT of time. Not cheap but worth it in the end!
