The Jeep Renegade will be discontinued after the 2023 model year in the US and Canada, with the more popular Compass taking over as the brand’s entry-level offering. However, the subcompact SUV is expected to continue its presence in other markets, including Europe.
The Italian-made Jeep Renegade starts at $28,445, which is slightly higher than the Jeep Compass with an MSRP of $28,400, despite the Compass being slightly larger.
Sales of the Renegade in the US have been on a constant decline since 2016 when it reached an all-time high of 106,606 units. In contrast, the company sold 27,549 Renegades to US customers in 2022, and the figures from January to September 2023 show a further decline of 35% compared to the same period last year. According to a recent study, the Renegade has the highest inventory among all models in the US, with over 2 years’ worth of supply based on demand rates from June 2023.

A Jeep spokesperson has confirmed the discontinuation of the Renegade to Autonews, stating that “the brand focuses its resources on SUV segments in North America that continue to grow”. However, the spokesperson also mentioned that the SUV will continue to be available in other markets, including Mexico, South America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific, where it is considered a core model for Jeep.
The Jeep Renegade was initially introduced as a 2015 model year vehicle in the US and underwent limited changes throughout its lifetime, even with the mid-lifecycle update in 2019. An additional facelift was implemented in 2022, but it was restricted to the Brazilian market and was not introduced in the US or Europe.
The sub-compact SUV shares a similar fate with the fifth-gen Cherokee, which was discontinued earlier this year. However, unlike the Renegade, there will be a successor for the Cherokee. Jeep is set to expand its lineup in the coming years, with a commitment to providing electrified versions of all its models in North America by 2025.
