The all-new Fiat Titano midsize pickup was launched in Algeria a full seven months after the original teasers. Besides Africa, the model which bears a close resemblance to the Peugeot Landtrek will also be available in South America starting with Brazil. Each market will get a different engine, tailored to the specific needs of local customers.
From the outside, it is hard to distinguish the Fiat Titano from its Peugeot twin. The only points of differentiation appear to be the emblems, the redesigned grille, the 18-inch alloy wheels, and the name on the tailgate which was inspired by Greek mythology (as with the unrelated Nissan Titan).
The greenhouse and the profile are shared with the Kaicene F70 and Changan Lantazhe from China, which use the same ladder-frame underpinnings. As with its siblings, the Fiat is available in Single Cab and Double Cab versions, prioritizing cargo area length or interior space respectively. With a length of 5,331 mm (209.9 inches), the Titano is a tad longer than the Toyota Hilux and slightly shorter than the Ford Ranger.

Fiat Algeria
The interior is also largely shared with the Peugeot, although the steering wheel proudly wears the Fiat emblem. Notably, only the Titano Volcano flagship trim comes equipped with a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen.
According to Fiat, the Algerian-spec Titano is focused on fuel efficiency. This is why they fitted it with a 1.9-liter diesel that produces 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is exclusively mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, sending power to either the rear (4×2) or to all four wheels (4×4) with an electronic differential lock. The maximum payload capacity of this version is 1,210 kg (2,668 pounds), closely matching its main rivals.
In Brazil, the Titano will be equipped with a different engine, although Fiat didn’t specify which one. The tried-and-tested 2.2-liter Multijet II turbodiesel sounds like a good candidate, producing a healthier 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. While this hasn’t been confirmed, other markets could also use the turbocharged 2.4-liter petrol that makes 207 hp (154 kW / 210 PS) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) in the Peugeot Landtrek.
The Fiat Titano is already available in Algerian dealerships with prices ranging from 3,489,000 DA ($25,939) to 4,289,000 DA ($31,887) depending on the trim. Soon, Fiat is expected to launch the midsize pickup in other markets in South America and Africa. In Brazil, the Titano will be positioned above the smaller Fiat Strada and Toro unibody-based pickups.
