Miami Heat point guard Kyle Lowry intends to retire with the Toronto Raptors when he decides to end his NBA career.
Lowry will sign a one-day contract with the Raptors.
Lowry spent nine seasons with the Raptors. He averaged 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks and made six All-Star teams and one All-NBA team.

Lowry is the Raptors’ franchise leader in 3-point field goals, assists, steals, triple-doubles, defensive win shares, win shares and value over replacement player. The Philadelphia native helped Toronto win the 2019 championship over the Golden State Warriors in six games.
The Raptors will retire Lowry’s No. 7 jersey one day. The veteran is the best point guard in Toronto history.
For the Heat this season, Lowry is averaging 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 43.8% from the field, 43.6% from beyond the arc and 90.9% from the free-throw line. The 37-year-old put up three points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks against the Raptors last night in the Heat’s nine-point win in Toronto.
Lowry is making $29.7 million this season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason. The Villanova product signed a three-year, $85 million contract with the Heat in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Raptors.

Many people believe Lowry could make the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame one day since he’s made six All-Star teams and won a championship. Lowry has career averages of 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Raptors and Heat.
