This is awesome! I randomly ran across a single 1980s monster truck TV commercial on YouTube and then I went straight down the rabbit hole looking for more, and boy did I find them. This collect of 1980s monster truck ads is awesome. Why? Well the voices you hear will be somewhat familiar. There’s one ad in here voiced by Steve Evans (Mud Jam 1986 in Seattle), a few by random voices, and many of them by Jan Gabriel who was clearly the go-to man for USHRA voice work.
Most of the ads are “beat them over the head” screamer type deals but a couple of them actually employ some more subtle tactics, or at least try to. One of the things that we have always wanted to find video of which happens to be mentioned in these ads a couple times are the side by side funny car and dragster pulling runs. We have never seen any moving pictures of them.
I can remember seeing these commercials or many just like them playing in the 1980s when the circus came to town and boy did they get me jacked up as a kid. On a cold and gray Sunday morning in Massachusetts, seeking this stuff out brightened my day a little today.
