Despite losing to the eventual WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces in four games in October, 2023 has served as a hallmark year for Sabrina Ionescu. In the midst of securing her second All-Star nod and setting the WNBA’s all-time for most threes made in a single season, Ionescu did so while sporting her first signature silhouette with Nike.
Following a well-received debut on the first of September, the low-top Zoom-assisted silhouette has since taken the NBA by storm with a quickness. From appearances alongside Jordan Poole, Mikal Bridges and an NBA referee all the way to the grassroots level, the Nike Sabrina 1 has cemented its stance as one of the most sought-after on-court solutions for the ensuing basketball season.
Amidst the height of the college season, Sabrina Ionescu has been gifting a number of collegiate programs – both men’s and women’s – with a school-exclusive rendition of her first signature silhouette. Stamped on the right tongue tab with each program’s ensuing logo, the Nike Sabrina 1 now stretches its dominance to the NCAA hardwood. Thanks to the upper’s unique embroidery and the sole unit’s many custom opportunities, each school can effortlessly lay its three main hues atop one another throughout the model.
Keep an eye out in the weeks ahead as a number of Nike-sponsored schools are expected to be graced with their PEs, like Sabrina’s alma mater the University of Oregon. With the 2023-2024 season officially underway, check back here for more college-exclusive Nike Sabrina 1s. In the meantime, each pair can be seen ahead.
So far the Blue Devils have unveiled four separate options for both players and coaches – head coach Kara Lawson can be seen dawning a pair with a black and white speckled midsole. Arriving in two home-based offerings, a neutral blue and one away pair, the latter is cast nearly exclusively in a jet-black tint with white accents illuminating the tread and swoosh while bright blue anchors the heel and upper detailing.
Arizona makes the most out of the upper’s delicate embroidery, surrounding the navy blue textile with vibrant red accents. The dark blue treatment follows suit along the tongue and tongue tab while the profile swoosh and the entirety of the sole unit underfoot is cast in a singular crimson red tint.
Virginia elected to keep the upper of their exclusive relatively simple, dominated by a deep navy hue while crisp white contrasts illuminate the forefoot, profile swoosh, midsole and the spine of the tongue. Underfoot, the tread’s continuation of the heel’s letter “i” inspiration is draped in a vibrant orange accent.
The first school from the Big Ten to receive their own PE sees the Michigan State Spartans seamlessly blend its regal gold hue into the Sabrina 1’s presiding white and green shades. Composing both home and away outfits, Spartan logos ascertain the left-most tongue tab with speckled midsole detailing adding a bit more flavor underfoot.
Stanford’s pair stays true to the model’s past Team Bank offerings. Cardinal Red composes a majority of the upper much like its Virginia counterpart while a red speckled detailing ensues across the back half of the midsole.
