M. S. Dhoni has always preferred SUVs over other body styles when it comes to cars. In an old interview, he spoke about his first car and expressed his admiration for the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen.
The video was shared by Just Watch Sports on their Instagram page, featuring an interaction between the anchor and Dhoni at the launch of a Mercedes-Benz product. It seems Dhoni attended the launch of the Mercedes EQB last year, and the video is an excerpt from that event. During the conversation, the anchor discusses Dhoni’s first car. Dhoni recalls that it was a Mercedes-Benz, specifically a GLS 63 AMG, although he doesn’t hold fond memories of this SUV.
He first noticed this car while visiting a friend in Australia, and upon returning, he ordered one for himself. He found the spacious cabin and luxurious interior of the SUV more practical than other cars, which was one of the reasons why he purchased it. However, when asked about his dream car, Dhoni immediately mentioned the G-Wagen.
He confidently expressed his desire to own a G-Wagen, explaining that, for him, it defines SUVs and Mercedes-Benz. He delved a bit into the car’s history, sharing that it had been his dream SUV. The only reason he initially chose the GLS63 AMG over the G-Wagen was its performance and luxury.

He greatly admires the G-Wagen, mentioning in the video that he hopes to buy it one day. He also talks about the potential future electric version of the G-Wagen, but his preference lies with the V8 engine. This video is from 2022 and gained recent attention because M. S. Dhoni has indeed purchased a G-Wagen. He recently acquired this black-colored SUV, which has been spotted on the road several times. Like many celebrities, Dhoni also opted for a personalized registration number.
Dhoni bought the G63 AMG, equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 petrol engine generating 585 Bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque. It remains a favored SUV among many celebrities and sports personalities in India and worldwide. In India, the starting price for a brand new Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG is Rs 3.3 crore, with variations in price depending on customizations.

He also owns bikes like several Yamaha RX100 and RD350 motorcycles, Custom made Jawa 42 Bobber, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, Kawasaki Ninja H2, Harley Davidson Fat Boy, Ducati 1098, Confederate X132 Hellcat, BSA motorcycle and many more. All these motorcycles and vintage or classic cars are put on display and maintained inside the glass garage that he built on his property.
