A new trailer has been released for the thriller Miller’s Girl, which follows the budding inappropriate relationship between a teacher, played by Martin Freeman (Sherlock, Fargo), and student, played by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega. They are joined in the cast by Dagmara Domińczyk, Bashir Salahuddin, Gideon Adlon, and Christine Adams. The film is written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett in her feature directorial debut, and it was produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Mary-Margaret Kunze.
The film’s synopsis reads:
A talented young writer (Ortega) embarks upon a creative odyssey when her professor (Freeman) assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web. As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.
This looks like a movie that we’ve seen before. Maybe it will take a new spin on an old story though. The talent is there to make it intriguing enough. Miller’s Girl will premiere at the 2024 Palm Springs Film Festival next month, and you can catch it in select US theaters when it opens on January 26th, 2024.
