Ever since the launch of the Mahindra XUV700 back in August 2021, its most highlighted feature has been ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). This feature was launched by the company as a safety feature to avoid accidents. However, a number of hooligans in India have been misusing this safety feature as a stunt feature. Recently, another video showing some young engineering students performing dangerous stunts with the help of ADAS has been shared online. The driver of the car was seen climbing out of the window and dancing while the car was being driven by ADAS.
Mahindra XUV700 ADAS misuse
This video of the ADAS being misused comes courtesy of Nikhil Rana from YouTube. It starts off with the presenter giving a brief about the source of the video. He states that it has been shared with him via email by one of his subscribers. The presenter mentions that the sender of the video has asked to be anonymous and has stated that this video is from Guwahati, Assam. According to the sender, the young boys in this video are engineering students of Royal Global University. It was mentioned that this video was recorded on a flyover.
Following the introduction, the presenter shows the video. In the video, it can be noted that the driver of the car, who seems to be of the age between 18-19 years, was climbing out of the window from the driver side door. Meanwhile, the car was being driven by ADAS, and the person on the front passenger seat was recording the video with one hand, and his other hand was on the steering wheel. The driver of the XUV700 was dancing while he was out of the window, and he once came back inside to handle the car and then went out again. A few other boys were seen standing out of the panoramic sunroof of the SUV as well.
Dangers of this stunt
At this point, we don’t think it has to be mentioned how extremely dangerous this stunt was. As mentioned in the video by the presenter, that had there been something that came out of the random on the road, most likely the driver out of the window would have been the first person to get thrown out and meet with serious injuries. However, despite knowing all of these dangers by themselves, these students still managed to perform this stunt.
Most of this reckless behavior stems from the increasing social media validation requirement. The people on these platforms share videos of their reckless behavior on roads with two-wheelers and four-wheelers just to get some likes, comments, shares, and subscribers. However, all of them undermine the risks that they put on their lives as well as the lives of other people on public roads. These types of stunts are especially becoming more common with the Mahindra XUV700.
Is ADAS a blessing or a boon for India?
These types of stunt videos make us wonder if Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is a blessing or a boon for India. On the positive side, ADAS brings significant safety benefits to the country’s roads. This is because features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and collision warning systems can help reduce accidents and save lives.
However, on the flip side, the misuse of this safety feature for performing stunts and doing reckless behavior gives birth to this question as to if it’s a boon for India. Over the last few years, we have witnessed the misuse of this safety by many individuals who engage in dangerous activities. This poses a threat not only to the occupants but also to others on the road. For all of these reckless stunts to stop taking place in the country, more stringent laws need to be placed, and strict actions have to be taken by the government and police authorities so that no one becomes a victim of such stupid behavior on public roads.
