As much as Hollywood blockbuster movies like to glamorize it, street racing comes with consequences. If you don’t end up hurting yourself or others, you could end up in serious legal trouble, which is exactly what the occupants of a Dodge Challenger R/T found out the hard way earlier this week.
On January 2nd, police in Georgetown, Massachusetts spotted a green Dodge Challenger that appeared to be engaging in street racing on public roads. According to Massachusetts State Police reports, they initiated a pursuit, but the muscle car managed to evade them. And seeing as it was already traveling at speeds much higher than the legal limit, they soon lost track of it.
It wasn’t until a few minutes later when they received a call about a crash that they were able to locate the speeding Challenger. The car had crashed after veering off the ramp connecting Route 95 to Route 133, suggesting they were taking too much speed through the corner, but it had been abandoned. Realizing this, police began to set up a perimeter and deployed the K9 unit in hopes of tracking the suspects down.

At 3:22 PM, around 45 minutes after the chase began, police received a call from someone who lived in the area reporting suspicious people in the woods behind their house. The authorities quickly rushed over and were able to detain three suspects, who were identified as the driver and passengers of the Challenger. After further investigation, it was found that there were no injuries, as well as no other vehicles involved in the crash.

All three occupants of the vehicle were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing, while the driver was also charged with speeding, street racing, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, breakdown lane violation, and leaving the scene of property damage.
