So we’re back today with some killer ads from the 1960s. This time we assaulted the pages of Super Stock and Drag Illustrated to bring you a true capsule of the age through the ads that appeared in the magazine. SS&DI was one of the leading drag racing publications of the era and it hung in there with various names through the 1980s and deep into the 1990s. These guys along with publications like National Dragster, Drag News, and others were the primary sources of information for racers and to rodders who wanted to keep up on the latest and greatest in the sport.
There were dozens of other magazines that popped up and were gone just about as fast. Thanks to a generous gift of hundreds of magazines through the 1950s and 60s, I’ll be bringing you some os the neatest stuff I find in these books off-and on for the foreseeable future.
Oh, and before you freak out over those $69.00 GTO headers understand that it’s $523.04 in today’s money!
