We share a lot of tool testing here on BANGshift, and honestly that’s not just because I’m a tool nut. Nope, it’s also because I can’t afford to buy all those high dollar tools. I just can’t. So I’m the guy that is looking at what will do the job for me, at a price I can afford. And part of that kind of decision making is also about knowing what you are really going to be doing with your tools. I know a lot of guys that have expensive mechanic or construction level tools who NEVER use them to that level. They aren’t making a living building houses or working on cars. Let me put it another way.
If you buy a high dollar drill for example, but use it only for DIY projects and normal at home “stuff”, you will use it a fraction of the amount of times that a professional construction working would each year. This is important, because the term “lifetime” depends on usage. A high dollar tool might last a lifetime for a construction worker. But it would last 5 lifetimes for a DIYer. Or 10. Or 30. So with that example, wouldn’t you think that something cheaper might also last a lifetime for you, when you are going to use it a fraction of the number of times? Yeah. Think about it.
