The last ever Hemi-powered Dodge Charger model rolled off the assembly line at the Stellantis factory in Brampton, Ontario on Friday, December 22, 2023, in the form of an SRT Demon 170, but as the saying goes, when one door closes another opens. Just this morning, Dodge gave the public a surprise teaser with a post on social media revealing the first official photos of the pre-production 2025 Dodge Charger Dayona Coupe.
Ever since Dodge shared its Charger Daytona SRT EV concept back in 2022, rumors have flooded the internet questioning whether a traditional internal combustion engine might still be an option. What we do know is a battery electric version is confirmed and will be part of the model’s lineup, however details on specific configurations aren’t yet known.
Online speculation points toward a version that will be powered by Stellantis’ new Hurricane inline-six engine, which will also be taking the place of the legendary Hemi V8 in vehicles such as the 2025 Ram 1500 and several Jeep models, and maybe even the Dodge Durango. In fact, The Drive claimed to have a reliable source confirming that the Hurricane I6 will be an option. However, the Hurricane engine could be utilized in a hybrid setup as a range extender, like in the new Ramcharger, instead of taking the strictly standalone internal-combustion route.
What will the 2025 Dodge Charger Dayona Coupe look like? To our surprise, it’s not far off from the EV concept car. On the morning Friday, January 12, Dodge shared current photos of what the pre-production model looks like. Dodge did not link a name to the model but did state it would be available for sale later this year. We can only speculate that this is the beginning of the 2025 Dodge Charger reveal. Note the Dodge Fratzog emblem, which is said to represent the EV-only model.
Dodge also revealed what is rumored to be a quick glance of the new 2025 Dodge Charger in a Christmas-themed holiday commercial late last year.
