Mumbai police recently seized 41 high-end luxury and sports cars that had gathered in Mumbai for a rally. The rally was organized on Republic Day. We have seen several videos of such rallies being organized in different parts of the country. The reason why this rally got flagged by the cops was because the organizers had not obtained necessary permissions, and a prohibitory order was issued in Mumbai starting from January 23 to February 6. There are several videos of the expensive and exotic cars that were supposed to be participating in the rally.

The event took place at Jio World Drive mall. This was the starting point for the rally, and these cars had reached the spot violating the prohibitory order. The ongoing order limits the gathering to not more than five people until February 6. The event was also listed on the online ticketing portal Bookmyshow.
The rally was expected to see the participation of at least 100 supercars. The Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) seized 41 vehicles and booked 43 individuals, including the organizers, for violating the order. The rally was supposed to start from Jio World Drive mall and go towards the recently inaugurated Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and back. When cops came to know about the rally, they reached the spot before the event and put a stop to it. Several cars from brands like Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, and so on. Most of the owners were from Bandra, Khar, and Andheri region. The owners along with the organizers were booked under Section 188 (deliberate disobedience of an order promulgated by a public servant) and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act 1951.

After the vehicles got seized by cops, the owners of these vehicles did express their frustration and alleged that police had failed to inform them about the prohibitory orders or the lack of permission. They even stressed the fact that they were all law-abiding citizens and questioned the approach taken by cops. The cars that have been seized by the cops are now parked at the Jio World Drive. The cops might have deliberately decided to do so because most of these vehicles are worth crores, and some of them are even rare. Any damage to the vehicles would be extremely expensive to repair and would also put the department in a very tricky position.

Here at the parking lot, cops along with the traffic police department are currently completing the paperwork and would be issuing fines against the vehicles. They are also looking for illegal modifications on the vehicle and would be calculating fines on the basis of this. The owners of these cars can actually get their vehicles back after paying fines and in accordance with court proceedings. In the videos that are circulating online, we can see cars like Lamborghini Urus, Ferraris, Ford Mustang, Audi, Aston Martins, and BMWs. The number of supercar owners in India has increased in the last one decade. If you are living in a metro city, you could easily spot a sports car or supercar on the road. Even brands like McLaren officially opened a dealership in Mumbai last year.
