In a thrilling showdown that saw Zion Williamson’s heroics with a game-winning layup, the New Orleans Pelicans secured a narrow 114-113 victory over the struggling San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
Facing off against the Pelicans, Spurs’ rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama showcased his versatility, contributing 16 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.
Williamson, impressed by Wembanyama’s performance, expressed high praise, stating, “Vic is a very special player… He’s a dude that can get two or three Defensive Player of the Years and also, I don’t want to put a limit on it, but he can get Defensive Player of the Year and MVPs,” as reported by ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.
