According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young could become available for trade this summer depending on how the team finishes this season.
The Hawks are 22-29 this season. They are only in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings despite having Young and Dejounte Murray.
Young will be linked to the Los Angeles Lakers since he has the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports) as LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, Fischer said don’t rule out Young possibly getting traded to the San Antonio Spurs to play with Victor Wembanyama.
“There are several front offices that listened to Atlanta’s pre-deadline chatter and came away from conversations with the Hawks of the belief Trae Young could become available for trade this summer — depending on Atlanta’s outcome for the remainder of this campaign,” Fischer wrote. “But for now, one spot other than Los Angeles that’s repeatedly been mentioned by NBA figures as a potential home for Young — if Atlanta were to ever consider parting with its franchise face and All-Star lead ball-handler — is San Antonio. The Spurs do lack a clear-cut pick-and-roll partner for rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.”

Young signed a five-year, $215 million extension with the Hawks in August 2021. He’ll make $43 million next season and $45 million in 2025-26.
One of the best players in the NBA, Young is averaging 27.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 10.9 assists this season while shooting 43.2% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc and 86.3% from the free-throw line. He has 32 double-doubles in 46 games.
Young doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. The three-time All-Star holds career averages of 25.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 9.5 assists.
