New Hyundai EV Pickups May Be Named Ioniq T10 And Ioniq T7

Hyundai’s forthcoming battery-electric pickup truck could be called the Ioniq T10, as suggested by a recent trademark application lodged in Australia.

The trademark, filed on December 27, 2023, encompasses a wide range of automotive applications, including “automobiles,” “electric cars,” and “parts and accessories for automobiles.” Notably, the inclusion of the ‘Ioniq’ moniker indicates that the vehicle will adhere to Hyundai’s electric vehicle branding, akin to its existing Ioniq models.

It is speculated that the ‘10’ means it will be positioned, at least in terms of size, at the top of the brand’s EV range, sitting above the upcoming Ioniq 7, Hyundai’s version of the Kia EV9 SUV.

Initially noticed by Drive.com.au, the report also mentions that although the trademark application was filed in Australia, this market won’t be the primary one for the vehicle. It’s anticipated that the pickup will also be available in North America, though it’s not clear if it will match the footprint of full-size models like the Ford F-150 and GMC Sierra or smaller mid-size trucks such as the Chevy Colorado.

Little else is known about the truck. It is reasonable to assume that its design will be equally as striking as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. It will also probably share its mechanical components with other Hyundai EVs, including the electric motors and the battery pack. We suspect it will most likely arrive with dual motors allowing for all-wheel drive but a single-motor, rear-wheel drive version is also possible.

Hyundai also appears to be working on a second electric pickup, filing a separate trademark application for the Ioniq T7 name. This model could be smaller than the Ioniq T10 and perhaps similar in size to the Santa Cruz or a little bit bigger.

Current reports suggest that Hyundai could be ready to launch the new model in 2025 or 2026. Kia is also known to be working on a diesel-powered pickup allegedly dubbed ‘Tasman’ that is expected to eventually spawn an all-electric version.
