Chrysler Halcyon EV concept previews Chrysler’s future

With Chrysler down to just one vehicle, the Chrysler Pacifica minivan, the brand desperately needs new models. Enter the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept, a preview of what’s to come for the storied brand.

Chrysler had previously shown us the crossover Chrysler Airflow EV concept, though this vehicle’s design has been cast aside for the entirely new design language we see here today on the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept arrives in the form of a sedan, a body style many mainstream brands are shying away from recently as consumers gravitate toward crossovers and SUVs. In fact, we can see traces of the brand’s long-gone cab-forward designs of the 90s with a massive windshield that extends halfway through the hood.

Built on the Stellantis’ STLA Large EV platform, the rest of the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept features crisp flowing lines with dramatic cuts in the side doors and blade-like front and rear lighting elements. The doors, with their unique opening and butterfly roof panels, are most likely pure concept fantasy. We expect these elements to be toned way down for production. Still, the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept cuts a sharp figure and should be quite attractive even in toned-down production form.

Inside, the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept features a very concept-y interior with swooping lines and plenty of floating elements unlikely to make it to production. Though very conceptual, it’s not hard to imagine a production version featuring an interior inspired by this concept with a single, large, center-mounted screen as is becoming common in EVs. The Chrysler Halcyon EV concept also features biometric identification paired with AI tech that allows the car to recognize registered drivers and configure the interior to their preferences, as well as Level 4 autonomy. Again, we’ll see how much of this is actually intended for production. Still, it’s nice to dream.

Chrysler has said they plan to offer an all-electric lineup by 2028, with their first EV model arriving in 2025. We’ll have to wait and see what form their first EV model will take, but if the Chrysler Halcyon EV concept is any indication, we might have a lot to look forward to.
