The Chevrolet Silverado EV is a rare sight, but the model has been hit by a new recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the automaker is recalling 352 trucks from the 2024 model year. They were equipped with the wrong second-row center seat belt bezel and this means the belt might tear in a crash. If this occurs, the occupant may not be properly restrained, which increases the risk of injury.
Notifications are slated to be sent to owners next month and they’ll be advised to take their truck to a dealership for repair. Thankfully, the fix is relatively straightforward as technicians will replace the seat belt bezel free of charge.

According to the NHTSA’s Recall Report, the trucks were built between February 23 and November 14 of last year. It goes on to say the issue was discovered after an engineer found the “incorrect seat belt bezels were distributed to the assembly line, which installs this part on the Silverado EV.”

This sparked an investigation as well as sled tests to determine the impact of the issue. The latter showed that “under heavy loading (95th percentile male test dummy in a 35-mph frontal impact) bunching of the belt at the bezel opening may damage or tear the belt.” However, GM isn’t aware of any incidents or injuries related to the issue.
