The Punch has been a great product for Tata Motors. The Sub-Compact SUV targets a big segment of the market looking for a small-sized car perfect for rural as well as urban terrains. Launched back in October 2021, Tata Punch has been selling roughly around 8000 units per month. The SUV is a fresh launch but Tata Motors is on its way to launch a facelift of Punch.

The facelifted version of Punch was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. In the pictures shared by Motorbeam on Instagram, the updated version of the SUV can be seen completely covered in camo wrap to hide details.
Design-wise, the overall silhouette of the car remains the same. Changes in the exterior could include a revised front look with an updated bumper, headlights, DRLs, and an updated grille. Coming to the side, we can see a camouflaged set of 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the car does not seem to have major changes save for a revised bumper and taillights. Overall, the SUV will follow the design language of its bigger siblings, Tata Nexon, Tata Harrier, and Tata Safari.
The interior of the new Punch is likely to get the most major upgrades. The SUV’s interior is expected to be similar to that of the Punch EV. We can expect a fully digital interior, featuring a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch infotainment system, borrowed from the Punch EV. Other list of features include rear AC vents, auto AC, cooled glovebox, push button start/stop, and sunroof in higher variants.
Tata is known for manufacturing safe cars and the Punch is no different. The SUV comes equipped with dual airbags, parking sensors at the rear, ABS, EBD, high-speed alerts, and much more as standard. The facelift is expected to come loaded with 6 airbags in top variants.
One thing that can be seen in the spy images is the discs at the rear hinting at the inclusion of all 4 disc brakes in the updated version. The current version of Tata Punch scored a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP, which is likely to be carried forward in the facelift.
The facelift isn’t likely to get any performance or transmission upgrades. Powering the Punch SUV currently is the familiar 1.2L Revotron petrol engine producing 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The same motor could be carried over to the facelifted model. While some reports suggest the inclusion of a more powerful 1.2L turbo petrol engine from the Nexon, there’s no official confirmation from Tata Motors.
Transmission options are expected to remain the same, offering buyers 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options. The CNG version of the facelifted Tata Punch is also expected to be launched in 2025. While there is no confirmations from Tata Motors regarding the facelifted Punch’s launch timeline, the micro SUV is expected to arrive before mid-2025.
Along with the Punch ICE, Tata also sells a Punch EV in the price range of Rs. 10.99 lakhs to Rs. 15.49 lakhs ex-showroom. The EV version of Punch is based on a completely different platform than the regular Punch. Punch EV is based on Tata’s Gen 2 architecture. The EV version delivers a real-world driving range of about 321 km and comes with fast charging capabilities.
