Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez may be sold a two billion dollars as financial advisors were apparently hired to assess options foe the brand but Selena apparently will remain active in the company no matter what happens. Well, that didn’t last long did it? Rare Beauty launched in 2020 and a mere 4 years later they are may already be selling it off.
Granted these are all rumors right now as reports are saying the brand was valued at 2 billion and reportedly and are looking at firms who are interested in potentially investing into the brand or acquiring it but Rare Beauty has not released an official statement nor has commented on this.
Nothing good comes from brands selling out to larger companies like Estee Lauder. Lord knows if Estee Lauder is one of these firms looking into doing any deals with Rare Beauty we’re all in for a bumpy right as there isn’t one brand they’ve touched they haven’t completely ruined in my opinion. Not to mention we always get that promise of from the owner and creator reassuring us of how involved they’ll be and don’t worry they are going to be there through the entire process and will remain with the brand. We’ve seen it with Bobbi Brown who sold to Estee Lauder in 1995 but thankfully, remained until 2016 and of course, Jerrod Blandino who sold Too Faced for a whopping 1.4 billion in 2016 only to leave in 2022. And of course, Jamie Kern Lima founder of It Cosmetics who stepped down in 2019. So, yeah, the whole “Selena will remain with the brand and be active” likely means, “I’ll stay for a few years and after that I’m outta here!”
I will say back with Too Faced was sold for 1.4 billion I was shocked but seeing Rare Beauty up for grabs at 2 billion isn’t so surprising. The brand has a strong following and is very much beloved by its fans. Is it weird to say that the brand is ok to me but I’m just no a rabid fan of it the way some are? None the less, my opinion doesn’t really matter considering the amount it’s pulling if this sale does happen. But as for Selena remaining, well, I’m not holding my breath. I give her a few years before she leaves! But nothing is confirmed yet so, let’s not all panic!
