The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most capable off-roaders in the country. However, have you ever thought about what it would look like if it were a pickup truck? Well, today is your lucky day. Recently, we came across a digital rendering shared online which shows how the Jimny pickup would look. Spoiler alert: it looks amazing.
The video of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny imagined as a pickup truck has been shared on YouTube by SRK Designs. For those who may not be aware, SRK Designs is one of the most talented digital artists in the country. In the most recent rendering, the artist has given the popular Jimny an all-new rugged appearance.
Jimny pickup: Design Details
From the rendering, we can observe that the artist has given this Jimny a much more butch appearance. It gets a current-inspired grille and headlight setup. However, it has been made to look a lot more premium. The grille gets chrome slats and headlights get LED DRLs.
The front bumper has been made a lot more robust as well. It gets hexagonal housings for LED fog lights. And it also gets a chunky skid plate as well. The bonnet also gets new body lines but it retains the boxy appearance.
Moving on to the side profile, the doors get squared-off ORVMs which look like the current Jimny. However, the main highlight of the side profile is its two-door and truck bed configuration. Before coming to that, it has also been given a rugged-looking rock slider on the side. It also acts as a footstep as well.
This particular rendering ditches the more practical five-door configuration of the Jimny sold in India. Rather, it offers only two doors with a small rear quarter window and a decently sized truck bed. Apart from this, it also gets a thick roll cage in the rear.
Is Maruti Suzuki going to make a Jimny pickup?
Most likely the answer to this question is no. Maruti Suzuki is highly unlikely to produce the Jimny pickup because there is no demand for it. The Jimny five-door is already getting very lackluster sales. And keeping this in mind, the Jimny pickup does not make economic sense for Maruti due to negligible demand.
India’s craziest modified Maruti Jimny
Just a few weeks ago, we shared what we believe is the most crazy Jimny in India. This particular Jimny has been converted into an off-road Baja pickup truck. It has been designed to compete in rallies and it is not a road legal model. Its rear two doors have been removed and it gets custom fabricated body panels.
This is the only Jimny in the country to be fitted with an FMSCI – Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India approved six-points roll cage. It also gets custom diamond-shaped fenders. Additionally, it has also been given custom-made full metal front and rear bumpers as well.
Apart from these modifications, it also gets a Dana 44 independent rear suspension. The owner has also fitted it with 5-inch coils and massive 33.8-inch off-road specific Renegade tires from Radar. The total cost of modifications on this Jimny is Rs 36 lakh.
