Scott Liggett, aka Rebeldryver, has been hot rodding small block and big block Chevrolets for a long time, and while he’s worked on some LS stuff while he was at Blueprint Engines and on other folks projects, he’s never owned one himself. Until now. Now he’s got an LQ4 6.0 liter that he got on the cheap and is going to put together for his latest drag and drive project. You’ll have to wait to see more on that thing, but until then it is time to work on the LS engine itself. Will this thing be a gem or a dud? Let’s find out.

I tear down my first LS engine purchase. I bought it used from a customer. It’s complete. And, a complete unknown to whether it’s any good. In this video I tear down this LQ4 6.0 liter LS I got real cheap.
Tearing down the engine, and inspecting what I got is the first step in the process of building a badass race engine. I will assess what I have, then make decisions on where to go from here. I have built several engines in my life, right in my garage. Most have turned out great and served me for years. Others, have been an abysmal failure. But, I have always learned from those mistakes. Let’s see what I can do with this popular LS platform.
