Force Motors is gearing up for the launch of the new Gurkha five-door in the country. The launch date has been reported to be May 2. However, ahead of its official launch, a number of key details about this forthcoming SUV have been shared. The biggest highlight of the Gurkha five-door, apart from its extra doors, will be its engine. It will get a bigger and more powerful motor from the now-discontinued Force One SUV.

Force Gurkha five-door to get new engine
As per the reports, the company will not be carrying forward the Mercedes-Benz-sourced 2.6-liter diesel engine. Instead, the company will be offering it with a 2.2 FMTECH (Force Motor technology) engine.
This common rail turbocharged engine has also been licensed by Force Motors from Daimler AG Germany. This motor will generate a maximum power output of 139 bhp. It will also generate a peak torque of 320 Nm.
It will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The current three-door Gurkha’s engine produces a maximum power of 90 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Apart from the new engine, the upcoming Force Gurkha will get a number of new features. It will come equipped with an already capable off-roading system seen on the three-door model.
The three-door model comes with a low-range transfer case, and front and rear manual locking differential as standard. As per the reports, it will now feature a 28-degree ramp-over angle.
Additionally, it will also offer a 37-degree departure angle and 35-degree gradeability. Force Gurkha five-door will have a ground clearance of 233mm. And it will also have an impressive 700mm of water wading capacity.

The company recently also released a teaser of the Force Gurkha. In this teaser, the company showed a few new details about this SUV’s interior. The first thing noted was the new SUV will get a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Like the three-door model, the new SUV will continue to offer manual AC.
Apart from this, the Gurkha five-door will also get a 7-inch digital instrument gauge cluster as well. Additionally, the SUV will come with electric ORVM controls, reverse parking camera, dual airbags, front disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and 3-point seat belts.
The main highlight of this teaser was that the SUV will be getting a bench-type middle row. Meanwhile, the third row will get two individual captain’s chairs like the one seen on the three-door model.
Force Gurkha five-door: Exterior design and pricing
Coming to the exterior design highlights of the new Force Gurkha five-door. It will look almost exactly the same as the three-door model. Except there will be an addition of two more doors in the middle. Apart from these, it will now also come with 18-inch ten-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Most likely the company will be launching this model with a starting price of Rs 15 lakh. Upon launch, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. However, its primary rival will be the Mahindra Thar five-door which is slated to be launched on August 15 this year.
