21,337 new cars found a buyer in Austria in April, a solid 15.3% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is now up 3.7% to 84,600. The podium brands all beat the market and lodge shares above their YTD level: Volkswagen is up 22.1% to 15.9% of the market, Skoda is up 39.5% to 10.8% and BMW up 24.4% to 7.9%. Audi (-1.5%) is in difficulty year-on-year but steps up two spots on March to #4. Strikingly, the rest of the Top 10 bar Hyundai (-13.1%) all outrace the overall growth rate. Dacia (+49.9%) is the most dynamic above Seat (+45.1%), Mazda (+44.3%), Toyota (+42.9%) and Mercedes (+28.1%).

Model-wise, the VW Golf (+150.3%) surges ahead to return to the pole position it holds year-to-date. In fact the entire Top 11 models advance faster than the market… The Skoda Octavia (+43.4%) remains in 2nd place above the Dacia Sandero (+85.8%), Toyota Yaris/Cross (+32.6%) and BMW X1 (+34.9%). The VW T-Cross (+197.9%) soars from outside the March Top 20 directly to #6 and the Skoda Karoq (+97.7%) is up 11 spots to #7. Outstanding year-on-year result as well by the Seat Ibiza (+112.2%) but it drops four ranks month-on-month to #8. The Ibiza now ranks #3 year-to-date, passing the Tesla Model Y (-9.5%) down to #14 for the month.
