Some Mustang models suck up so much attention there’s hardly any love left for the rest. Take the ’67-68 cars: if it’s not a fastback, it seems no one is interested. But Florida-based Velocity is ready to redress that balance with this restomod package for the ’67-68 convertible.
The company already offers fastbacks of that period updated with modern running gear, luxury features and tech, and it’s now applied those same features to the less famous drop-top mode. Carryover highlights include a modern Ford 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that kicks out 460 hp (466 PS) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque.

Buyers get the choice of sending that power to the nine-inch rear axle’s 3.73:1 gearset via a T56 six-speed manual transmission or 10-speed automatic. The engine breathes through custom headers and Borla mufflers and the brand new Roadster Shop Mustang SPEC chassis is equipped with a host of modern components to ensure the convertible looks old, but doesn’t necessarily feel ancient when you start trying to enjoy the power.
Unlike the originals, these ’67-68s come with rack and pinion steering and a four-link rear axle that’s suspended by Fox coilovers and equipped with Baer four-piston calipers with 11-inch discs. The brakes also feature a Bosch Electric iBooster to deliver new-car pedal feel and effort.
And to give something approaching new-car levels of grip, the retro-style 17-inch wheels, which are a 2024 take on the Magnum 500 rims available in period, are wrapped with 255/45 ZR17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires.
The Shelby-style racing stripes are optional, but the vented hood, LED headlights and sequential LED rears come standard. As does a Vintage Air climate control system, Dakota Digital gauge pack and Procar buckets that can be optioned with heating and ventilation.
And Velocity could hardly go to all this trouble and leave the convertible top mechanism alone. It’s fitted with new electric motors and hydraulics and can be ordered in brown, tan, black or cream to match the owner’s choice of interior leather.
It looks like Velocity – which also offers restomodded Broncos, F-Series trucks and Chevy Blazers – has thought of everything, and you’d hope it had for the money being asked. The firm’s Signature Series fastback builds start at $299,900 and the convertible package adds another $30k to that price.
