The Volvo EX30 is the best-selling vehicle in Finland in May.
It’s a 6th consecutive month of decline for the Finnish new car market at harsh -18.4% year-on-year in May to 7,551 units. The year-to-date volume is now down -14.6% to 31,716. Toyota (-11.7%) keeps the lead of the brands charts with a round 20% share. Volvo (+25.1%) is in outstanding shape at #2 with 14.1% of the market vs. 12% so far this year. Volkswagen (-29.3%) is hit hard but stays at #3 ahead of Kia (-1.8%) resisting well and Skoda (-52.1%) imploding. Mercedes (-14%) manages to keep its loss below the market rate at #6 but BMW (-37.6%) and Tesla (-42.9%) crater. Hyundai (+50.5%) and Nissan (+31.3%) round out the Top 10 in fantastic fashion. Below, BYD (+1016.7%) celebrates one year in market at #19 with Subaru (+278.6%), Seat (+125%) and Honda (+30.8%) also in positive.
Over in the models lane, the Volvo EX30 spectacularly takes the lead with a fantastic 7% share, only 6 months after its launch in the country. It now ranks #5 year-to-date vs. #11 last month. The EX30 distances three Toyotas: the Yaris (+81.9%) in great shape, the Corolla (-26.5%) struggling and the Yaris Cross (+6.9%) solid. The VW ID.4 (-20.9%) rallies back up two spots on last month to #5 but drops significantly year-on-year. The Nissan Qashqai (+141.3%), Kia Ceed (+83.8%), Toyota RAV4 (+35.8%) and Skoda Octavia (+10.1%) impress below. The Tesla Model Y sinks -59.4% at #10 and ranks #7 year-to-date whereas it topped the Full Year 2023 charts. In contrast the Tesla Model 3 is up 183.7% for the month at #15.
