I know that a lot of “normal” people will buy a compact impact driver to drive screws and do DIY stuff at home, but they also have a place in your toolbox for working on cars. With the ever increasing number of driver bits that work with hex nuts and bolts of all sizes, along with many other automotive fasteners, it is no surprise that you can really use these in a lot of scenarios. In fact, my first experience with a small impact driver was at Westech Performance Group, where Steve Brule had a very compact Snap-On model that ran on 12 volts and was perfect for removing carburetor float bowl screws, valve cover hold down hardware, timing covers, oil pans, etc. But they are also great for removing interior fasteners, and small fasteners in general. In fact, you want one that isn’t too powerful so that you can use it to put things back together without worrying about stripping out every hole.

We also bought the Hyper-Tough from Walmart which showed up last, but like their impact wrench with the included battery it stop/starts often and couldn’t complete testing without also requiring additional larger batteries, so was left out for this specifically budget episode for that.
