When Masachika volunteers to help organize the StuCo storage room, his childhood friend Suou Yuki continues to exhibit her bordering-on-lovey-dovey dynamic with Masachika. He’s surprised to find Alya there too, and notes that Yuki set him up. Alya uses her Russian to demand he pay more attention to her, and has fun “throwing herself” at him, believing he has no idea what she’s muttering.
When the StuCo president treats the three to dinner as thanks for the quick turnaround on the storage room, Yuki has nothing but high praise for Masachika, to the point the prez asks him to join the council, something he steadfastly refuses to do since quitting in middle school. He also learns that both Yuki and Alya will be running for president when their senpai graduates.
Turns out knowing Russian isn’t the only secret Masachika is keeping from Alya. Yuki isn’t just a childhood friend, but his actual little sister, as we learn when she’s at his house reading a manga. Her prim and proper school persona is totally gone, replaced with something more akin to a rambunctious otaku. Kudos to Maruoka Wakana for the vocal range!
With Yuki’s true colors showing, there are now three extremely likeable and fun-to-watch characters on this show. Yuki proves to be an exquisitely two-faced shit-stirrer and foil to Alya, and her dialogue with Masachika snaps, crackles and pops beautifully.
The next morning Yuki jumps on top of Masachika in his bed, teasing him, and then the duo go shopping when they both notice Alya has been stalking them for some time. They invite her to lunch at a restaurant that serves only ludicrously spicy ramen with hellacious names, and juding from her face game Yuki is clearly having fun messing with Alya. Despite Masachika’s frequent warnings, Alya’s pride won’t let her back down.
After lunch, Yuki goes off solo shopping, and Masachika, who can tell Alya is suffering, gets her a big ice cream cone. What a good dude! He asks her why she’s running for president, and she simply says because she wants to, even if she doesn’t have a running mate (though saying she wants him to be hers … in Russian, of course).
Then she invites him to join her with her clothes shopping. Not only is she surprised by how good he is at praising her various looks, said praise becomes a drug she just can’t get enough of. While both she and Masachika are embarrassed at first, they soon get into a fun rhythm.
By the time Alya built enough confidence to show Masachika the shortest skirt and the lowest-cut top yet, Yuki has returned from her solo shopping, resulting in an awkward, end to the fashion show. Later, she’s confused/concerned when Masachika and Yuki get off together at the same stop.
In reality, she has nothing to fear from Yuki in terms of competition for Masachika, only in terms of the next election. As for Masachika, he may have sworn off the StuCo due to having felt responsible for hurting someone back in middle school. We’ll see if he maintains his StuCo sobriety or if Alya’s Russ-undere charms convince him to back her campaign.
