The GR86 Trueno Edition takes the classic, clean design of the GR86 and infuses it with nostalgic elements that harken back to the iconic AE86 Trueno. It’s based on the Premium trim level and adds a two-tone exterior with a black hood, black Trueno Edition side panel graphic, and a black painted duckbill spoiler. Lastly the exterior gets unique black metallic finished 18-inch, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and black door handles and mirror caps. To make sure everyone knows how special it is, there’s also a Trueno Edition badge on the rear and front. Inside the sport seats are wrapped in ultrasuede and red leather. Red stitching has also been applied to the steering wheel and shift boot. To amp up the performance, ZF SACHS dampers and Brembo brakes have been added.
What truly sets the GR86 Trueno Edition apart is its exceptional handling. With its 2.4-liter flat-4 engine delivering 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, the GR86 provides a thrilling yet manageable driving experience. The Trueno Edition is available with a six-speed manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in respectable 6.1 seconds, which might seem slow, but what truly helps the GR86 stand out is how it drives on the track or a winding road. If you opt for the six-speed automatic transmission the GR86 will need 6.6 seconds to reach 60 mph.

The GR86 allows drivers to effortlessly control oversteer and enjoy a more connected driving experience than you’ll find in most of today’s cars. The precise steering and Torsen limited-slip rear differential further enhance the driving dynamics, making the GR86 a joy to drive.
Inside, the GR86 features a simple and functional layout. The front seats provide excellent support and ample room, even accommodating a helmeted driver, perfect for track days. While the rear seats are better suited for storage, they add to the car’s practicality, given the small 6.3 cubic feet trunk.
On the tech front, the GR86 features a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. While the two screens are an improvement over the last generation GR86, they still feel a bit dated.
The pricing for the 2024 Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition starts at $35,815.
