I wish that the 2023 fantasy film Nimona got way more love, even if it has a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score. When I first watched this film, I was immediately immersed in its rich world-building and fun twists to classic tropes. Nimona‘s cast of complex characters kept me engaged the entire time as it spun the story of a wrongly vilified knight and the strange child he befriends as he tries to clear his name. Though it does have a fairytale feel, the story itself has a futuristic aesthetic that somehow works with its timeless themes and wildly different characters.
