Anthony Edwards and the adidas AE1 are dominating talk about Three Stripes hoops shoes, but don’t sleep on the DON Issue #6. Donovan Mitchell’s latest and greatest signature shoe has been well received since it debuted back in July, and with the start of the 2024-25 NBA season looming closer, there’s still plenty of potential growth to tap into.
Embracing team-friendly colors is a rite of passage for any signature basketball shoe, and that’s exactly what we get with this latest pair. While the bulk of the design comes painted in black, the accent colors evoke retro Cleveland Cavaliers jerseys from the 80s and 90s. The midfoot sole structure and tongue-encompassing piping are officially listed as “Solar Red,” although in reality they’re actually more orange than anything. Meanwhile, the tongue features a gradient pattern that transitions from the orange color to “Lucid Blue,” bringing the overarching theme to a helm.
With Spida having signed a three-year max contract extensions with the Cavs earlier this year, we’re surely due for more team-appropriate Donovan Mitchell shoe colorways as his signature line progresses. Cleveland has one of the better jersey archives in the league, so there’s surely no shortage of inspiration to draw from.
The adidas DON Issue #6 “Aurora Black/Solar Red/Lucid Blue” doesn’t have a firm release date at the time of this writing, so return periodically to our Sneaker Release Dates hub while we populate all the latest available info. Expect the model’s standard $120 MSRP.
