General Motors is no stranger to having too many brands as the company had Pontiac, Saturn, Saab, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Holden, Geo, Opel and Vauxhall not that long ago. Ever since departing with them, the company has focused on Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC.
This made it surprising when BrightDrop was launched as a subsidiary in 2021. That didn’t make a lot of sense and GM is finally realizing that as they’re folding the brand into Chevrolet.

The move is a no brainer and Chevrolet said it gives “customers access to one of the industry’s largest and most extensive commercial sales and service networks, and enhances brand growth opportunities.” In regards to the latter, all Chevrolet dealers will have the opportunity to sell BrightDrop vans as long as they meet certain requirements. These dealers can also work on BrightDrop vehicles, which should make them far more appealing as there’s a larger sales and service network.
This is a huge development as BrightDrop listed just seven dealers for 2024. They were located in California, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, and New Jersey.
As part of the changeover, the BrightDrop Zevo 400 becomes the Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 while the BrightDrop Zevo 600 is now the Chevrolet BrightDrop 600. The vans also adopt Chevrolet badging as we can see a lightly revised grille with a new bowtie emblem.
Besides sporting new names and badges, the vans benefit from model year updates. These appear to include Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking as well as Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking as these features are listed as “New for 2025.”
Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell remarked, “With the addition of BrightDrop to the Chevrolet lineup, we are combining advanced EV technology with the dependability and widespread accessibility that only Chevrolet can offer. This move strengthens our EV offerings and reaffirms our role as a leading commercial brand that enables businesses large and small to get work done.”
